--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So now you're getting married
Your face is all aglow.
I remember the day you were born
And it wasn't so long ago.
You grew up too quickly.
The time has gone too fast.
I wanted you to stay my baby.
I wanted the time to last.
But you're soon to be a bride.
Ready to walk down the aisle.
You'll only be my little girl,
For just a little while.
I see you all grown up now,
Excitement mixed with calm.
I'm so glad you're my daughter,
And more glad that I'm your mom.
Rituals are important. Nowadays it's hip not to be married. I'm not interested in being hip.
------ John Lennon
This poem is making me teary. I'm holding my baby girl as I read this now. She's only months old, but already the time is going by too fast.
