Success

This is not one of my writings (much as I wish I could claim talent akin to Mr. Ralph Waldo Emerson!) but I found this in a collection of "Debi's things to keep" and wanted to post it here just so I would never lose it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

-------------------------------------------------------------

How do you measure success?

To laugh often and much

to win the respect of intelligent people

and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics

and endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreiciate beauty;

To find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better,

whether by a healthy child, a garden patch,

a redeemed social condition, or a job well done;

to know even one other life has breathed easier

because you have lived -----

This is to succeed.

-----Ralph Waldo Emerson
